Write a letter to the College Director. In your letter:
- explain why you are not satisfied with the current food selection
- describe the problems this is causing for students
- suggest specific healthy food options that could be added
Write at least 150 words.
Dear Mr. Evans,
I am writing to you today as a second-year Business student to express my concern regarding the food selection currently available in the college canteen.
At present, the canteen menu consists predominantly of fried and processed foods, such as chips, burgers, and pastries. While these options are occasionally enjoyable, the almost complete absence of fresh, nutritious alternatives is a significant issue for many students. This is a problem because a diet high in fat and sugar has a detrimental impact on our ability to concentrate in afternoon lectures. Many of us feel lethargic after lunch, which is not conducive to effective learning.
To address this situation, I would like to suggest the introduction of several healthier food choices. A dedicated salad bar with a variety of fresh vegetables and lean protein options like grilled chicken would be an excellent start. Furthermore, offering whole-wheat sandwiches with healthy fillings, fresh fruit bowls, and natural yoghurts would provide students with the necessary energy to sustain them throughout the academic day.
I believe that incorporating these simple changes would significantly improve student well-being and academic performance.
Thank you for your time and consideration of this important matter.
Yours sincerely,
James Carter
